Brisbane Bullets guard Tyler Johnson has been nominated for the NBL23 Best Sixth Man Award.

Brisbane Bullets guard Tyler Johnson has been nominated for the NBL23 Best Sixth Man Award.

Johnson has impressed for Brisbane this season, averaging 15.8 points at an efficient 49% from the field. He also averages 3.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and has provided a strong spark off the bench on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor.

The NBA veteran has made an impression both on and off the court for the Bullets in NBL23 with Hostplus Head Coach Greg Vanderjagt speaking highly of his character following the their Round 17 match.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him as a human being,” Vanderjagt said.

“He’s the ultimate team guy, he cares for everyone in the locker room, he does things for guys off the floor.”

“Then you look at what he’s done over the last six weeks…now he’s in a rhythm and feels good.

“He’s a really, really good basketball player and even better human,” Vanderjagt added.

The All-NBL First Team, All-NBL Second Team, Executive of the Year, Referee of the Year presented by Europcar, Gametime by Kmart Award and Fans’ MVP presented by Chemist Warehouse will also be announced on the night.
 
A panel of experts including Andrew Gaze, Greg Hire, Matt Logue, Jo Healy, Casey Frank, John Casey and Olgun Uluc, selected the nominees for each of the MVP, Best Sixth Man, Best Defensive Player and Most Improved Player. 

Coaches and captains from each of the 10 teams then voted on the nominations with no votes allowed for a player from their own team.

The winner of The Andrew Gaze MVP Award, along with all other awards for the 2022/23 season, will be announced on Tuesday, February 7, live on ESPN.
