Off Season Update - 22 July 2024

The Club is looking forward to welcoming Josh Bannan back to Brisbane after a great week at the NBA Summer League representing the LA Clippers. Bannan and the Clippers won four out of five games throughout the week, and he’ll bring valuable experience back to the Bullets as the Club are set to begin pre-season training this week.

Over the weekend in the NBL1 North, Tyrell Harrison, Mitch Norton, Jarred Bairstow and the Southern Districts Spartans booked their spot in the semi-finals, defeating the Logan Thunder 93-69.

Harrison dominated in the paint, finishing with 22 points, 24 rebounds and four assists in the game. Norton added 16 points, eight assists and four rebounds, and Bairstow had eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Brisbane Capitals also extended their season, defeating the visiting Rockhampton Cyclones 98-81. After winning MVP of the NBL1 North, Sam McDaniel continued his strong form, finishing with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists in the outing.

Semi-finals are now set in the North with Sam McDaniel and the Brisbane Capitals going to Darwin to face the Salties this Saturday 27 July. The other semi-final on Saturday night, will see Isaac White and the Mackay Meteors take on Harrison, Norton, Bairstow and the Southern Districts Spartans.

In the NZNBL, Tohi Smith-Milner and the Wellington Saints bowed out of the finals, defeated by the sharpshooting Franklin Bulls 104-67. Smith-Milner had eight points and five rebounds in the outing.

Overseas in the Canadian Elite Basketball League, Deng Adel’s Ottawa BlackJacks defeated the Niagara River Lions 122-113 on Saturday night. Adel had 10 points, five assists and two rebounds in the game. Next up the Ottawa host a replay with Niagara on Sunday 28 July, before facing the Brampton Honey Badgers on Tuesday 30 July.
