“The opportunity to get out there this weekend has been something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time, so I’m stoked”

Josh Bannan will debut for the Brisbane Bullets this weekend when the team play South East Melbourne Phoenix on Saturday night at John Cain Arena. Bannan missed the first three rounds of NBL24 due to an injury sustained in the off season.

The 6’10 forward who spent time at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence and the NBA Global Academy, prior to attending the University of Montana signed a three year deal with the Bullets ahead of NBL24.

“The opportunity to get out there this weekend has been something I’ve been looking forward to for a long time, so I’m stoked,” Bannan said about making his debut this weekend.

“I missed the competing part and the opportunity to do that with this group of guys who I love being around… you get to go to war with these guys. That’s most exciting to me.”

Bannan is a versatile athlete that plays with intensity on both sides of the floor. His key focus points are to “play good offence, space the floor, get us extra possessions and then defensively bring energy, get after it and impact winning that way.”

Hostplus Head Coach Justin Schueller welcomes Bannan into the line-up.

“We’re excited to see what he can do for us on the floor and really believe he’ll come in and have an impact. To be able to add another big, that gives us so much versatility,” Schueller said.

“People are going to see what he brings to this group and it’s the reason we made him an absolute target for us in recruitment.”

Looking forward to the game this weekend Schueller’s side took “a lot of lessons out of” last weekend.

“This week we’ve spoken about having an expectation on ourselves. Doesn’t matter who’s on the floor or not, we’re expecting to do well not hoping to,” Schueller added.
